April 4 to 7

Monday April 4-Day 37Chem 112- Today we went over combustion reactions and started group review for the midterm. You did some questions from the smart board on combustion reactions. Please do b,c,d from the smart board. Please do the following questions from your text for thursday p 337 20, 21 and p 339 24a,c Here are some helpful things for preparing for the midterm:

The link below is good for practising balancing. It expects you to type in a 1 whereas we didn't always write a coefficient of one.

Chem 122-Lab Day 3
Chem 111-Today we went over the answers to the text questions on p 339 23 to 27 and then I went over percent composition. You had previously done an assignment on this. See above for some helpful study items.

Tuesday April 5-Day 38

Chem 112- Today we did group review for the midterm. We went over the scientists from the wiki and reviewed percent composition and metric conversion with one of the group work stations.
Chem 122-Lab Day 4 Do not forget the work from before the labs:The top right worksheet from the pink handout was assigned to be done in your notebook on a full sheet of loosleaf. (Sheet#3). I went over strong acids and bases the day before the labs. This should be complete for tomorrow by everyone including those involved in shadow day.

Chem 111- We did group review for the midterm. Here is some great practise with %composition and half life.

Wednesday April 6-Day 39 CHEM 11 MIDTERM TODAY Please remember that I cannot drop your lowest test at the end of the term if you miss this. I also need a medical excuse.

Chem 112-MIDTERM
Chem 122- We will go over the five step approach for predicting acid/base equilibria and I will highlight bronsted lowry. We will do a homework check on sheet #3. Test coming on Wednesday April 13th(19.1 to 19.3) Homework Please do sheet 4 #5, 6, 9 and the question from the 5 step question from the smartboard Chem 122 Midterm on Monday April 18th.
Chem 111-MIDTERM

Thursday April 7-Day 40
Chem 112-Today we checked over the combustion questions and then went over a sealed flask question. On the mole sheet do #2,#3,#4,#5
Chem 122- Today we will go over another example with the five step process. I will go over the homework question with you. You will be given some in class time to work on some practise questions. These should be completed as homework. I will post the answers to the sheet #3 on the smart board. You will also receive an assignment that is due next friday on Hess's Law and finding enthalpy using formation reactions. There will be a quiz on tuesday on the five step process.
Chem 111-Today we did sealed flask questions.

Friday April 8-Parent teacher interviews in the afternoon
